Xirrus touches down at inTechnology Distribution to help reseller revenues in the exploding wireless LAN market

BRISBANE, Queensland (January 5, 2009) – inTechnology Distribution, a specialist value-add distributor (VAD) in Wireless Networking, Network Security and Green IT technology, has been appointed as the exclusive distributor for the Xirrus high performance Wi-Fi Array platform in Australia.

By exceeding the capacity, coverage and cost-performance of current Wi-Fi solutions, Xirrus' powerful Wi-Fi architecture helps markets like educational institutions, enterprises and governments achieve the greatest cost-performance today while positioning themselves for emerging applications such as voice over WLAN (VoWLAN).  Xirrus' Wi-Fi Array integrates the functionality of a WLAN switch and up to 24 802.11a/b/g+n access points in a single device to deliver the industry first Gigabit-class capacity (up to 4.8Gbps), as well as four times the coverage area achieved with competing architectures. By simultaneously using up to 24 non-overlapping channels, the Wi-Fi Array overcomes performance issues that commonly arise as existing architectures attempt to scale with demand.

“inTechnology and our reseller partners have a proven track record within the wireless market and, as the technology and standards for wireless continue to change, develop and demonstrate their robustness, it's important for us to remain ahead of the industry representing leading vendors as Xirrus,” said Mark Winter, inTechnology Director, Sales and Marketing. “Xirrus also falls inline with our Green IT focus requiring 75% fewer APs, 75% fewer cable runs and 75% fewer wired switch ports.” “Overall Xirrus uses about 30% less power than the traditional wireless infrastructure”, Mark went on to say.

“With most states looking to deploy laptops under the Digital Education Revolution (DER), and with wireless being the obvious network platform for these laptops, Xirrus is the only vendor that will be able to supply the required high-gain directional antenna system, Wi-Fi controller, firewall, dedicated Wi-Fi threat sensor, and an embedded spectrum analyser along with enough density, coverage and bandwidth along with an onboard multi-gigabit switch into a single device required for these new wireless networks”, Mark concluded.

"It's rewarding to have attracted another high-caliber distribution partner supporting our channel program," says Tony De La Rosa, Regional Director of Sales of Xirrus. "With inTechnology Distribution’s and our in country team focus on providing innovative technology solutions is indicative of the channel partners we are focused on and, coupled with the advantages delivered by the Wi-Fi Array, will fuel the market momentum rapidly building in Wi-Fi."

inTechnology will carry Xirrus' complete family of Wi-Fi products, including the Wi-Fi Arrays, Management System, Defense Module,  and Power over Gigabit Ethernet, and accessories. inTechnology is actively looking to recruit channel partners focusing on the educational sector to take advantage of the funding available under the DER and partners working with local and state governments along with the healthcare industry during 2009.

inTechnology will be offering attractive bundles of the Xirrus Arrays along with Ekahau’s wireless site survey software and will also be providing partners with Wi-Fi site survey training and education in each state in Q1 2009.

About Xirrus

Xirrus, the only Wi-Fi “Power-Play,” manufactures the Wi-Fi Array® architecture that displaces both overlay Wi-Fi offerings and switched Ethernet to the desktop. The Wi-Fi Array integrates 4, 8, 12, 16, or 24 802.11abg+n radios coupled to a high-gain directional antenna system into a single device along with an onboard multi-gigabit switch, Wi-Fi controller, firewall, dedicated Wi- Fi threat sensor, and an embedded spectrum analyser. The Wi-Fi Array provides more than enough bandwidth, security, and control to replace switched Ethernet to the desktop as the primary network connection. The Xirrus Wi-Fi Array delivers the most coverage, bandwidth, throughput, and support for more users on a per device and per system basis than anything else available on the market today - resulting in a solution that uses 75% fewer devices, cabling, switch ports, power, space, and installation time compared with any other offering.

Xirrus is a privately-held company headquartered in Thousand Oaks, California.
