inTechnology and Connecting Point Upgrades Coburg Senior School to State-of-the-Art Wi-Fi Network
VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA - Tuesday, March 24, 2009 - inTechnology Distribution announced today the successful implementation of Xirrus high performance Wi-Fi Arrays at Coburg Senior High School in Victoria, Australia.
The solution was deployed by Connecting Point and inTechnology Distribution. Coburg Senior has been rapidly increasing student numbers to the point where they were reaching the capacity of their existing wireless solution.
“At Coburg Senior we have truly embraced the 21st century digital learning concept,” said Don Collins, Principal at Coburg Senior High School”. “Our vision of the digital education revolution has been adopted by every staff member and every student. We do everything electronically, to the point where many of our students and staff utilise multiple wireless devices such as iPhones® and MacBooks®. Our IT based teaching environment aims to better prepare our students for a digital workplace”, Don went on to say.
“To date the concept has proven very successful and our rapidly increasing student numbers were placing strain on existing wireless infrastructure. We started to experience issues when classes were all attempting to logon within a short space of time. This caused long delays and was eating into class time. That’s when Connecting Point presented the Xirrus Wi-Fi solution to us. The team promptly came and did a wireless survey and sent us a deployment proposal. After a smooth implementation phase, we now no longer have any performance issues and can provide our students with high quality wireless services well into the future”, concluded Don.
“We selected Xirrus for this deployment as they have a strong and reliable solution, which is essential for the educational customers we deal with’, said Ed Menegol, Director at Connecting Point.
“The Xirrus wireless solution gives schools a flexible learning environment anywhere, anytime and has proven to be a brilliant product for our education and corporate customers”. “It’s affordable with a lower cost of ownership when compared to other wireless vendors within the market place and is the right choice for us and our clients”, Ed concluded.
Craig Clegg, Product Manager for Xirrus at inTechnology Distribution said, “Many schools in Australia now have a 1:2 computer to student ratio, and some campuses such as Coburg senior, are already at a 1:1 ratio. Coburg’s state-of-the-art Wi-Fi deployment demonstrates Xirrus’s unique design provides an ideal solution to cater for the Wi-Fi client densities found in education today”
The Xirrus Wi-Fi Array incorporates up to 24 access points and Wi-Fi controller into a single device that can easily handle extreme loads and large coverage areas because of its innovative directional antenna
technology. Xirrus is taking wireless to the next level and are expected to push the envelop of what will be possible around education, wireless connectivity and the digital education revolution.
