inTechnology signs Australia distribution agreement with Absolute Software to help fight computer theft
inTechnology Distribution, a specialist value-add distributor (VAD) in Network Security, Green IT and Wireless Networking, has been appointed as the master distributor in Australia for Absolute® Software Corporation and its leading firmware-based, patented Computrace® solutions for computer theft recovery, data protection and IT asset management.
inTechnology Distribution announced today that it now offers a new Absolute Software value-added reseller program for the Australian market, helping expand Absolute’s global distribution capabilities. With the new agreement, inTechnology’s network of channel partners will be able to resell Absolute’s Computrace solutions alongside their existing portfolios.
"The mobile computer management and security products by Absolute are an ideal complement to our existing VAR product portfolio," said Mark Winter, National Director of Sales and Marketing at inTechnology. "Because we have traditionally focused on security and management, Absolute products offer us the ability to deliver additional value to our channel partners and their customers."
“Australia and New Zealand have traditionally been among the fastest-growing markets for high technology products and adding a strong distribution partner in the region is part of our strategic plan for global expansion,” said Bill Pound, Vice President of Global Corporate Development at Absolute Software. “inTechnology brings expertise in enterprise sales of complementary products – particularly encryption technology- as well as deep and well-established channel partnerships to the Absolute brand in the ANZ region.”
"For IT asset management and data security personnel, the job of managing and securing mobile devices is becoming ever more complex and expensive," said Winter. "Computer populations now include desktops, laptops, Smartphones, wireless devices, tablets and now netbooks – often of different ages from a variety of manufacturers. Our goal is to provide solutions that offer visibility and security regardless of form factor or computer brand. We also feel that in today’s economic environment, organisations need this to be delivered as a simple managed service.”
How Computrace Solutions Work
The Computrace Software Agent that powers Absolute Software solutions is embedded in the firmware of computers from the world’s leading computer manufacturers right at the factory, including Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, Getac, HP, Lenovo and Toshiba, or it can be installed by the customer. It can be activated by customers when they purchase a subscription with terms ranging from one to four years. The Agent regularly contacts the Absolute Monitoring Centre – sending location and IT asset management information that is accessible via the Absolute Customer Center web portal.
Customers log in to the Absolute Customer Center to access that information, and, depending on the service level they choose, they can manage their IT asset population, run reports, remotely delete data and plot the location of their computers and mobile devices on a map.**
* For a complete list of firmware-supported computers, see www.absolute.com/firmware.
** Geolocation available with premium subscriptions. Customer computers must be fitted with a supported GPS receiver. For a list of supported GPS receivers see www.absolute.com/geolocation.
