Child Safeguarding Technology Coming To Australia

inTechnology Distribution joins forces with Smoothwall to launch ground-breaking child safeguarding technology in Australia on Safer Internet Day

Assisting Australian schools in identify and addressing issues around cyberbullying, mental health and e-safety

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, 30 January 2019 – inTechnology Distribution, in conjunction with Smoothwall, the leading developer of real-time, content aware web filtering and monitoring solutions, announced today it will be officially launching their child safeguarding technology “RADAR” across Australia on Safer Internet Day, Tuesday 5th February 2019.

RADAR provides intelligent and intuitive student activity monitoring to identify online threats before they become real-life incidents. Using a pre-graded severity alert system, RADAR instantly notifies administrators of critical incidents such as cyberbullying, self-harm, suicide, and radicalization.

With a highly visual interface, RADAR helps administrators evaluate current themes in student online activity and enables staff to view the visual context of an alert. Individual online and offline keystroke monitoring prompts the software to capture everything displayed or typed on the device.

RADAR’s launch comes shortly after the release of new research published on the eSafety Commissioner’s website revealing that cyberbullying can have a greater detrimental impact on young people than face-to-face bullying, resulting in greater levels of anxiety, stress and depression as well as substance abuse and peer problems.

“Protecting our children is a priority in this excessively connected world, with bullying, grooming and sexting becoming the norm in our education institutions”, said Mark Winter, CEO at Australia’s fastest growing Value Added IT Distributor, inTechnology Distribution. “We are excited to see this latest technology advancement from Smoothwall and are eager to bring this to the Australian educational institutions through our local partners.”

“RADAR offers significant opportunities for education focused channel partners and allows existing Smoothwall customers to activate RADAR with the click of a button,” said Tanya West, Smoothwall Product Manager at inTechnology Distribution.

“We are excited to expand our capabilities with RADAR’s groundbreaking technology in Australia.,” said Georg Ell, CEO of Smoothwall. “Student safety is every school’s priority, it is imperative for administrators to consider the value of online safety when making school safety plans. Our next-generation monitoring efficiently detects high-risk online and offline activity by combining clever keystroke monitoring and render interpretation. RADAR is Smoothwall’s 21st-century proactive threat assessment solution.”

The official launch will coincide with the eSafety Commissioner’s nationwide “Safer Internet Day” initiative to make the internet a safer place for Australian families, communities and schools. This initiative is an annual event held on Tuesday 5 February to help encourage a better internet. This year’s theme – ‘Together for a better internet’ encourages individuals to create a better internet by developing four, critical skills: Respect, Responsibility, Reasoning and Resilience.

“Our eSafety research shows 1 in 4 young people have been contacted by strangers online and 1 in 5 have experienced cyberbullying, so it’s more important than ever to help them build their online safety skills. #SID2019 is a great opportunity to start the conversation with the children in your care, using the 4 Rs to help prepare them for what they may encounter online,” said eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant. “Respectful communication, responsible use of technology, the ability to reason and critically evaluate online content, and the resilience to withstand harmful conduct or contact online—these are the behaviours and skills that will help us all thrive in a connected world,” said Inman Grant.

inTechnology Distribution is actively recruiting a number of additional channel partners who are focused on education and committed to building a safer internet for schools, families and communities across Australia.
